Eduard got his new digital camera yesterday and he kindly let me use it to take pictures of the living room, so I can share all of our efforts with you. So, there you have it. The pictures explain themselves, including the cat on the new chair and Eduard on his comfortable chair. You can see the painted chest of drawers and the painted coffee table and the stained dining room table and the new chairs and the curtain that is in back of Eduard. The art on the walls doesn’t show up very well. I’ll have to take a better picture of that some day. Note the cabinet with the new doors.
All in all we’re pretty happy with how it all turned out and feel very comfortable in this room, so I hope you enjoy the pictures.
Mu daughter is here! They arrived yesterday afternoon at 4:30 after the long drive from Paris. They decided that they had seen enough of Paris and its expensive prices and made the trip to Maastricht in a hurry. We met the boyfriend for the first time, and his mother, and they both are lovely people. They are both well traveled and have seen many countries between the two of them. We sat and had cappuchinos and glasses of wine and enjoyed talking together until it was dinner time and Eduard and I went home. We will see each other again today, no doubt, and I have to tell you that it was overwhelming to see her again and I had to have a few hours of complete silence at home to give my excited nerves a chance to come to rest again. Thank God for the Oxazepam!
I went to bed at 9:30 and woke up at 4:00 am this morning, so you can see that I was really tired.
My daughter look so good! She is so lively and full of good cheer. She’s got a great personality. I always forget how full of life she is. My niece and nephew did a good job speaking English, as that is the only language we spoke yesterday.
Now I can’t think straight about what else I will tell you, so I think I will leave it at that. Just a short post this time.
So, ciao to you all and may all the last days before Christmas not be too frantic…
Your living room looks lovely! So comfy. And I can see that the new chair is already being used. 🙂
It must be wonderful for you to have your daughter there. I hope you’ll have a wonderful time!
A pleasure to see your living room after hearing so much about it, especially the black sideboard, which I can tell you are especially proud of! Your artworks looks great on the wall, and remember reading about you printing them. The cat is posing very nicely and the curtains are a great example of the Ikea fabric which I remember from my own visits.
Also love the minimalist Christmas tree!
What great pictures. You had described it all so well to us that it was lovely to see – how elegant it all looks, modern but comfy. Your mandala looks great when I enlarge the picture. How lovely to have your daughter around and glad you have taken to the boyfriend. Life is easier when we get on with the extended family, eh?
Have a great weekend.
I absolutely LOVE your living room. It does look comfortable and like a lovely place to relax. Best things? The dresser definitely, the Christmas branch, the artworks on the wall, and of course the Ikea Chair. Enjoy your time with your daughter!
Your living room looks like an Ikea showroom. I am SO jealous!
Sounds like you had a wonderful evening with your daughter. Here’s to more of the same!
Your room looks absolutely stunning! I love how it looks. It was so nice to see pictures of everything, after hearing so much about all your hard work and effort!! Great photos too, so clear, and I love that the cat was in the hot.
So glad your daughter made it there safely. Enjoy your special time together! I am so happy for you.
Happy Holidays, my friend.
XOXO
and here is your story, illustrated! how lovely. it’s all just as you describe, but it’s nice to see it, too. it’s so neat and clean and colorful and gorgeous. and i can see your mankala on the wall very well.
i’m glad you had a good time with your daughter. have a wonderful weekend with her, irene!
I admit it. I’m nosy. And after hearing all about the efforts of your DIYing I was even more curious as to how everything was looking. So I had a nice leisurely time looking at all the pictures large.
Funny it looks about like I had envisioned it! That is a testament to your descriptive powers, Irene. The only thing that was a bit vague in my mind was the Ikea curtains. And no wonder they were hard to describe: they ARE hard to describe. But they make a lovely focal point for the room, bringing all the parts together harmoniously. You have the eye for it!
It must be great to be in that part of your apartment. Everything there speaks of love and treasured things. (Not the least of which is Eduard apparently being kept awake by your picture taking. ha) I like the way you’ve taken so many things and made them, by your own hand, work together. I like how comfy the cat looks. I like the art work on the walls, each looks like it is special. I like the plants.
Thank you for sharing, Irene. How fun!
